Your Account & Registration |
Why should I register with The Register Books? Registering with The Register Books has a number of benefits: It saves you time when you are buying a product because you won't have to enter your personal details again. You can opt out of receiving information from us about products that you are interested in, including advance warning of special offers and promotions. Over time we will be able to personalise the site according to your preferences, so you see more of the products you like and you save time when shopping. Why do I have to register before I buy? When you register you give us important information - such as your address, telephone number and e-mail address. We need this information to advise you of the progress of your order, deliver your product and contact you if we need to. It also allows you to create a password, which means you can securely access details of your order on this site and track its progress. To register, click on 'My Account' in the top menu bar, where you will be given the option to register. Here you fill in a few details and create a password - it's as simple as that! What if I need to change my details? Simply login to the site by clicking the 'My Account' button and click 'Update my details' on your account page. Here you can change your address, phone number and email address. What if I want to change my password? You can change your password whenever you want - just log in by clicking the 'My Account' button and select 'Update my details' from your account page. No problem! Click 'My Account' to log in and instead of entering your password, click 'I have forgotten my password'. You will be asked for your e-mail address and we will then send you an e-mail to remind you of your password. If you have difficulty remembering your password, why not change it for something easier to remember? You can do so from the ‘My Account’ page once you have logged in. |
Using the site |
I can't find the product I'm looking for - how do I search on this site? There are two different ways of searching for a product: 1. Click on the list of product categories from the left-hand menu on the home page. You can browse all our products by book, online learning course or CD. You can click on the one you are interested in to explore everything within that category. 2. Use the Search box on the home page: use the box on the right-hand side of the header to type in the Title of any product, the ISBN/EAN, subject area, author or publisher. You will get a list of titles that match the details entered. The left hand menu will then allow you to refine your results by subject, user level, publisher or author. What does ‘Add to Basket’ mean? ‘Add to Basket’ is a way of making a note of products you might want to buy later. It's just like putting items in your shopping basket at a supermarket. Adding an item to your basket does not commit you to buying it - it simply allows you to collect together all the products you're interested in so you can review them before deciding to buy. You can access your basket at any time by clicking on the 'Basket' button on the menu at the top. You can add items to your basket or remove them as often as you like. Your basket will clear after you make a purchase or at the end of your session on the site. What does 'Go to Checkout' mean? Checkout is just like the checkout tills in a supermarket (except money is not debited from your account until we despatch your order). When you are happy with what is in your shopping basket and wish to make a purchase you simply proceed to checkout. You will be taken through the various stages of the process, including reviewing your personal details (such as delivery address), payment details and the products you wish to purchase. Your order is only complete when you click the ‘Complete Purchase’ button at the bottom of the end page. If you decide not to go ahead with your purchase, you can simply return to the homepage or exit the site at any time before confirming the purchase, and your order will not be processed. We will confirm receipt of your order as quickly as possible by e-mail. We will e-mail you again when we despatch your order. When you see a product you want to buy, click on ‘Add to Basket’. This places the item in an electronic shopping basket. You then have the option to continue shopping or 'Go to checkout'. When you've finished shopping click on the ‘Basket’ button at the top of the screen to return to the shopping basket, check your basket contents and if all is correct select ‘Go to Checkout’. If you are a new customer you will be asked to register your details with The Register Books. If you are a returning customer you will be asked to log in by filling in your e-mail address and password. Next, confirm your invoice address and delivery address and click ‘Submit’. Enter your credit card details on the ‘Credit Card Payment’ page and click ‘Complete Purchase’. Your order will now be processed. Payment will not be taken from your card until we despatch your product(s). What methods of payment do you accept? The Register Books accepts the following major credit and debit cards: MasterCard, Visa, Switch, Delta and Solo. If you do not wish to input your card details on the website, you can choose to 'Skip Payment' and we will be happy to contact you for the details. We can also accept a cheque but this will involve a delay in the despatch of your order. The Register Books will display forthcoming products that customers can pre-order in advance of their publication date. This allows you to receive a new product as soon as it becomes available. If I pre-order an item when will it be sent? We will try to send your pre-ordered item to you on the first day it comes into stock at our warehouse (usually the date of the product release to the market). If I pre-order an item am I guaranteed to get it? Our buying department generally orders enough of a product to ensure that all our pre-orders are fulfilled. From time to time the publisher of some products may not provide us with the full allocation of products that we anticipated. If this happens to a product ordered online we will process the orders in the order that they were received i.e. on a first come, first served basis. We will contact customers whose orders we cannot despatch as soon as we become aware of the situation. On other occasions the publication date may be postponed, or – in extreme cases – cancelled by the publisher. In such circumstances we update the website as soon as we have the information. Hence the next time you log in to "My Account" to check your order status, you will be notified of the situation. How do I know whether you have a product in stock? Every product on The Register Books website has an availability indicator to let you know if the book is immediately available, limited stock, forthcoming title etc. Please check our Title Availability Guide. |
After-Sales Support |
What happens if you are out of stock of an item? All our "out of stock" items are displayed on the website as "On Order" or "Temporarily Out of Stock". You can put an out of stock item in your shopping basket and we will aim to despatch it to you as soon as it arrives at our warehouse. The same applies to items marked ‘Special Order’ or ‘Forthcoming’. ‘Special Order’ items can take up to 3 weeks to despatch and ‘Forthcoming’ titles have individual due dates. Orders for these products will be held and despatched to you as soon as they become available. How do I change or add items to my order? Any time prior to selecting ‘Complete Purchase’ on the Checkout page, you can modify the content of your basket by using the ‘back’ buttons to amend your choice. If you wish to buy more than one of a chosen product simply type the quantity required in the quantity box to the right of the product description and click ‘Recalculate’ to make the changes. To remove something from your basket simply either set the quantity to zero or tick the ‘Remove’ box next to the appropriate item and click ‘Recalculate’. If you wish to remove all items click ‘Empty basket’. You can continue shopping at any time. Choose a book category from the left-hand menu, type into the quick search box or use the detailed search on the top bar to continue browsing as before. Once you have completed the order i.e. you have selected the ‘Complete Purchase’ option on the ‘Credit Card Payment’ page, your order and personal details are sent to us securely. At this point you are unable to change your order online. If there is a problem and amendments need to be made please contact our Customer Services team on books@theregister.co.uk. How do I check the progress of my order? You can check the progress of your order by clicking on 'Track My Order' through the 'My Account' button at the top of the page. You can cancel your order by clicking on 'Track My Order' through the 'My Account' button at the top of the page. Please see our Returns Policy. |

How long will my delivery take? This depends on which delivery service you choose, standard delivery is within 48 hours of despatch. Please see our delivery section for more details. How much is the delivery charge? Here at The Register Books, we make every effort to keep delivery charges as low as possible. Once you have selected your preferred delivery method the cost will be calculated and added to your total bill. For a summary of how delivery charges are calculated, see the delivery section under the Customer Service menu. You will receive a statement with your delivery. Will all of my products be delivered together? You will have the option of deciding whether you want all your products delivering together or not when you proceed through the checkout.
